Graduate and Post-Bacc Studies offers competitive graduate assistantships to actively enrolled 91快活林 graduate students to enhance their academic and student experience. Graduate students can apply to assist offices throughout the 91快活林 campus.

Department: Student Affairs- Office of the Dean of Students
Reports to: Dean of Students/Associate Dean of Students
Work Period: Summer 2026, Fall Semester 2026, and Spring Semester 2027
Hours: 19 hours a week
Start Date: August 15 for the fall semester; January 15 for the spring semester; May 15 or June 1 for the summer semester
Compensation: $15 per hour and partial tuition waiver

GENERAL SUMMARY

The Dean of Students is seeking a current 91快活林 graduate student to assist with the programmatic efforts of the Office of the Dean of Students, including Family and Parent Programs, First Generation Programs, Scottie Care programs, Marketing and Social Media, and administrative assistance.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Include but not limited to:

  • Work directly with staff to support events and initiatives in the programs held by the Dean of Students and the Associate Dean of Students
  • Support marketing and social media efforts related to communication and marketing
  • Assist with staffing the dean of students’ office and support undergraduate office assistants
  • Assist other staff in the Dean of Students and the Division of Student Affairs as requested
  • Attend events and programs as a representative of the dean of students, as requested

REQUIREMENTS

Education:

  • Must be an incoming or current 91快活林 graduate student
  • Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA at 91快活林 or, for incoming students, completed their program(s) in good standing at their previous institutions.
  • Enrollment in a minimum of 9-credit hours attempted per semester(s) of the assistantship.
  • Graduate Assistantship grants or employment cannot be deferred.
  • Students may not work more than 19 hours a week on the assistantship.
  • A graduate assistant may not be employed in any another position on the 91快活林 campus nor can they hold two assistantship positions in one semester
  • International students will have additional steps to complete to be hired.
  • Eligibility for assistantships and grant support expires when a student graduates, withdraws, is not enrolled, is terminated, or otherwise becomes ineligible.

Experience:

 This position is open to all graduate students in all programs. Graduate Assistants must be able to work most of their hours between 8 am and 5 pm, with some flexibility for programs/events on nights and weekends.


KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITY

  • Good communication skills
  • Well organized and detail oriented
  • Experience maintaining a high level of confidentially
  • Understanding of social media platforms and a willingness to learn more for a professional setting
  • This is a primarily in-person position with some flexibility for offsite and/or remote work occasionally.

Eligibility & Requirements

  • For consideration at the time of admission, applicants must have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA and completed their program(s) in good standing at their previous institutions. 
  • Current graduate students must maintain good academic standing, with a minimum 3.0 GPA.
  • Students must be enrolled to accept an assistantship offer.
  • A graduate assistant may not be employed in any other position on the 91快活林 campus nor can they hold two assistantship positions in one semester.
  • International students will have additional steps to complete to be hired as a GA.
  • GAs must enroll in a minimum of 9 attempted semester hours for each fall or spring semester of their assistantship.
    • Students completing a graduate assistantship during the summer semester must maintain a minimum of 6 credit hours.
  • Graduate Assistantship grants or employment cannot be deferred.
  • Graduate students will work with the assigned project supervisor for 10-15 hours per week for the time period indicated on the contract based on assignment. Students must work a minimum of 10 hours per week, and may not work more than 19 hours a week.
